AUBURN | Louis D. Cerio, 68, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Auburn Community Hospital. Louis was born in Auburn, the son of the late Louis A. and Anne Chomyk Cerio. He was a head commissary clerk for Auburn Correctional Facility for more than 30 years. He enjoyed spending his time coaching basketball for C.Y.O. of Holy Family Church, and as a Little League baseball coach for many years. Mr. Cerio was also the commissioner for the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He helped build the league from the ground up. Sports were a large part of Mr. Cerio's life and as a competitive person he played fast-pitch softball for a number of seasons. Surviving is his daughter, Amy Lynn Lansbury, of Auburn; son, Michael C. Cerio and his fiancée, Becky Grant, of Auburn; two grandchildren, Taylor and Connor Lansbury, of Auburn; sister, Patricia DiFabion, of Auburn; one niece, Rebecca DiFabion, of Auburn, and two nephews, Brock Napoli, of New York City, and Michael Gentile, of Auburn. In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife, Sharon A. Cerio, on July 24, 2008. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 in St. Alphonsus Church in Auburn Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn.
