Ronald C. Ross
Ronald C. Ross, 79, of Auburn, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 8, 2026. He was born in Auburn, the son of the late James and Charlotte (Chapin) Ross, and spent more than 50 years living in the Ithaca area before returning back home.
Ron graduated from East High School, Class of 1966, received his associate degree from Alfred, and bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College. For more than 20 years, Ron was a mortgage banking executive for Freddie Mac. Upon retirement, Ron taught business classes at Tompkins Cortland Community College for several years. He was an avid hunter, wine connoisseur, and Corvette enthusiast. He cherished and enjoyed the spectacular views from his home on Owasco Lake.
Ron’s forever quick wit, cunning smile, and infectious laugh will never be duplicated and will always be remembered in the hearts of those he touched. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret ‘Margie’ (Rossi) Ross; daughter Joan Ross; beloved granddaughter, Leilani ‘LA’ Ross, who always affectionately referred to him as ‘Bada’; cherished nieces and daughters of his heart, Jessica (John) Friedel and their daughter Lorelei, Jeannette Ross DeChick and children Jack and Delaney; beloved canine companion Arlo; as well as many special friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by a son, Jon F. Ross, and twin brother, Donald Ross. Calling hours are this Saturday, June 13th, from 3 to 5 PM in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn, with services to immediately follow at 5:00 PM with very close friend and colleague Lay Minister Gregory May officiating. Burial will be held privately in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
