AUBURN | Helen Lewis McAllister, 75, of Rockefeller Road, Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Cayuga County Nursing Home. Born and raised in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Mason Lewis and was a 1955 graduate of East High School. In the late 1970s, she moved to Arizona with her late husband Neil, where she worked as a real estate broker. She enjoyed gardening, painting, tennis and traveling, but most cherished the time she spent with loved ones, entertaining and hosting many family gatherings. Helen is survived by her children, Stephen (Marlo) Herbert, of Auburn, Melissa Emmette (Tim Groenenboom), of Chandler, Ariz., Laura Arnold, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Michael (Linda) McAllister, of Seattle, and Neil John (Debbie) McAllister, of Memphis, Tenn.; sister and brothers, Margaret Wall, of Auburn, George Lewis, of Oklahoma City and David Lewis (Barbara), of Easton, Pa.; grandchildren, Aubrey, Teddy, Joey, Nathan, Haley, TJ, Gia, Matt, Kim, Christopher, Erin and Katya and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband Neil W. McAllister, in 2009. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. A private family burial will take place in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Langham Funeral Home, LLC of Auburn. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make local contributions to the Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Ave., Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Helen. The family wishes to thank her doctors, nurses, and staffs of Internal Medicine Associates, Auburn Community Hospital, The Restmour Home, and Cayuga County Nursing Home for their compassion and professionalism in assisting Helen in her time of need.
