WEEDSPORT | Richard S. Coyle, 93, of South Street, Weedsport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Mr. Coyle was born in Weedsport on Dec. 15, 1919, the son of the late David and Anna Smith Coyle. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the New York State Thruway Department, where he was employed as a toll collector. Richard was a former mayor of Weedsport, a long-time board member for the village of Weedsport, and also served as the village treasurer. Richard was a member of the Clark-Heck Post 568 of the American Legion, a volunteer fireman with the Weedsport Fire Department and was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Weedsport. He is survived by his children, Jamie (Susan) Coyle, Shawn (Linda) Coyle, and Laurie (Shawn) Varney; his daughter-in-law, Linda Coyle; his eight beloved grandchildren, Veronica, Timothy, Christopher, Michelle, Jamie Jr., David, Ronald, and Jennifer; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Johnson Coyle, and his sons, Michael and Richard Coyle. Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. Calling hours will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Weedsport. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard S.
