Betty J. (Squier) VanOrden

Hopewell – Betty J. (Squier) VanOrden, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 8, 2026, on the kind of day she loved, with the sun shining, birds chirping, light breeze, and warm temperature.

She is survived by four children, Lorry Whipple (Bill Stella), Les Whipple, Vincent VanOrden, Jr., and Scott VanOrden (Kim Hunzinker); three grandchildren, Courtney Whipple, Corey Whipple, and Austin VanOrden; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Landyn, Caleb, and Luna; two brothers, Harv (Gail) Squier and Bill Squier (Mary Ann Burnett). She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris David and Edith J. Smith.

Betty was born in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Harold E. and Florence (Haak) Squier. She attended Canandaigua schools. Betty worked at Walmart in Canandaigua and formerly at Voplex. She enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, and shopping at thrift stores. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 17, from 4-6 PM, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in North Farmington Friends Cemetery.
