NEWARK - Robert J. Croll, age 63 of Marbletown Road, died on Sunday (October 28, 2012) at the Clifton Springs Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Friends may call on Tuesday (Oct. 30) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed (Oct. 31) at the funeral home with The Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Phelps.
It is suggested that memorial donations be made to the Marbletown Fire Dept., 6416 Silver Hill Road, Newark, NY 14513.
Bob was born on May 14, 1949 in Newark, the son of the late Donald W. and Marjorie De Pauw Croll. He graduated from Phelps High School. Bob worked at Elderlee for nearly 30 years, starting out as a welder and working his way up to be the Assistant to the Vice-President of Manufacturing. He was one of the founders of the Marbletown Fire Department. He was a very active member and served as president for many years. Bob was also a member of the Newark Elks Lodge.
Bob was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and camping. He also enjoyed cruising around with his wife Linda in their black MGB convertible. Bob was an inspirational man, and touched many people's lives with his positive attitude and his will to keep fighting. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Linda Croll of Newark; Sister, Barbara (Don) Bagshaw of Clifton Springs; Brother, William (Tammy) Croll of Newark; Mother-in-law, Clarice Yancey of Geneva; Brother-in-law, Gary (Sharon) Yancey of Seneca Falls; Sister-in-law, Karen (Tom) Canne of Phelps; Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bernie Croll; Father-in-law, Mearl Yancey and Brother-in-law, James Yancey.
