Clifton Springs - Edith S. Armstrong, of 60 Woodview Lane, died on Saturday (September 29, 2012) at the House of John in Clifton Springs.
There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday (Oct. 2), at 10 a.m. at Little Church Cemetery in Stanley (corner of Little Church Rd. and Gorham Rd).
It is requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society .
Mrs. Armstrong was born on Oct. 24, 1925 in Schenectady, N.Y. the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Spawn VanZandt. She was a public Health Nurse for the State Health Dept in Geneva. Mrs. Armstrong graduated from the Cadet Nursing Corp. at Plattsburgh State Teachers College school of Nursing during WWII.
She is survived by her children, Paul Armstrong of Pittsford; daughter, Beatrice Armstrong of Jamestown; grandson, Patrick Kennard; and great-grandson Kaden Kennard of Winterhaven Fla.; brother, Walter VanZandt Jr. of Springfield, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick who died in 2004.
Funeral arrangements have been made with the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps.
