The region is tracking toward one of the hotter stretches of the summer — Buffalo’s forecast office is using the phrase “potentially dangerous heat” for Tuesday, and confidence in that call keeps growing this morning. Right now, skies are clear across the Finger Lakes with temperatures climbing through the upper 70s to low 80s, heading for comfortable highs in the 83–87° range this afternoon.
Tomorrow edges warmer, with Geneva reaching 89° and a slight drizzle chance — nothing significant. Then Monday the ridge really starts to assert itself, pushing highs into the low-to-mid 90s. Tuesday is the focal point: 850mb temperatures are trending into the 22–24°C range, which sits at the 99th percentile for mid-July. Geneva is forecast to top out near 95°, and with humidity rising, heat index values will push that feel-like temperature even higher. No alerts are in effect yet, but that may change heading into Monday. Thursday and Friday ease back into the mid-to-upper 80s before some light rain chances return Friday night and Saturday.
