I’m watching a pleasant midday shape up across the region — and honestly, no real surprises from this morning’s forecast. Skies are a mix of clouds and sun, temperatures are climbing right on schedule, and the northwest breeze is keeping things comfortable. Auburn is running a bit cooler at 62°F with more cloud cover than its neighbors, but most towns are already in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Highs this afternoon will top out near 72° in Geneva and Canandaigua, with Watkins Glen, Corning, and Elmira reaching the mid-70s under clearer skies. No alerts are in effect.
The bigger story is what’s building this week. High pressure slides east tonight, allowing an upper-level ridge to settle in — that means climbing temperatures Monday through Friday. Expect the low 80s Monday, near 84° Tuesday, and then upper 80s to near 90° by midweek as humidity climbs. Heat indices could push into the lower-to-mid 90s by Thursday and Friday, particularly across the western Finger Lakes. Enjoy the comfortable afternoon — it won’t last long.
