Warm weekend gives way to a cooler, quieter Sunday

I’m watching that cold front finally clear the region as we head into the evening hours — and what a day it’s been. Gusts were running 30 to 40 mph across the Finger Lakes through the afternoon as that low-level jet pushed through, and any lingering showers should exit the area by around 9 or 10 tonight.

Overnight, winds will back off noticeably as the front pushes east. Lows will settle into the mid-60s across most of the region — Geneva around 65°, Ithaca near 64°, with Elmira dipping to about 63°. No frost concern tonight; it’s a mild, breezy overnight.

Tomorrow brings overcast skies and noticeably cooler air — highs near 74° in Geneva, a solid 10 degrees below today’s peak. Winds calm to around 14 mph, and precipitation chances drop to just 4%. It’ll feel more like a comfortable early-June day should. No NWS alerts are in effect.

Looking ahead, Monday stays overcast and quiet in the upper 70s, but a wetter pattern builds by Wednesday and especially Thursday, when showers become more likely.
