On Tuesday, corrections officers with the Yates County Sheriff’s Office charged Jason Siplin following an investigation at the Yates County Jail in Penn Yan.

According to authorities, corrections officers conducted a search of Siplin’s cell at the Main Street facility and allegedly found contraband. The items were subsequently submitted to NMS Labs for testing.

Siplin was charged with possession of prison contraband and issued an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to answer the charge in Village of Penn Yan Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
