A Williamson man faces numerous felony and misdemeanor charges early Tuesday morning following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that crossed multiple local towns.

Christopher Haas, 40, was arrested at approximately 2:57 a.m. near the intersection of Route 104 and Redman Road in Sodus. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident began as an attempted traffic stop but quickly escalated into a vehicle pursuit involving sheriff’s deputies and the New York State Police. The chase allegedly ran through the towns of Sodus, Williamson, Arcadia, and Marion.

Following the pursuit, Haas was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree, and two counts of Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.

Additionally, Haas was issued multiple traffic citations, including speeding in zone, reckless driving, moving from lane unsafely, and making an improper turn.

Haas was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await the Centralized Arraignment Part court. He is scheduled to appear in the town courts of Sodus, Williamson, Arcadia, and Marion at later dates to answer the charges.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
