Auburn Woman Faces Multiple Felony Fraud Charges

An Auburn woman was arrested early Tuesday morning following an investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Ashley Armstead, 32, of Auburn, was taken into custody at approximately 5:00 a.m. by Sheriff’s deputies. Armstead is accused of multiple offenses, including felony counts of Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree with Intent to Defraud, and Misuse of Food Stamps over $1,000.

Following her arrest, Armstead was processed on the charges, which are being handled through Auburn City Court.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
