On Thursday, two men were arrested following a traffic stop at the intersection of State Route 21 and the New York State Thruway in the Town of Manchester.

Zachary Maher, 33, of Geneva, was initially stopped by authorities at approximately 6:25 p.m. for allegedly operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license. During the course of the investigation, police allegedly found crack cocaine in the vehicle. As a result, both Maher and his passenger, Christopher McManus Sr., 50, of Clifton Springs, were placed under arrest.

Both men face a charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Maher was additionally issued uniform traffic tickets for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and operating without a license.

Both subjects were transported to the Ontario County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
