A Seneca Falls man was arrested by New York State Police following a violent domestic dispute in the Village of Marathon.

Zacharia McCutcheon, 35, was charged on Wednesday with two counts of Assault and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing.

Troopers were dispatched by the Cortland County 911 Center to a report of a physical domestic altercation in progress at a residence on West Main Street. An investigation determined that a verbal argument had escalated, and McCutcheon allegedly struck and kicked two people and choked one of the victims.

While at the residence, McCutcheon complained of pain and was transported by Marathon EMS to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for an evaluation. During the ambulance transport, McCutcheon allegedly became combative and kicked a trooper in the face. Troopers were assisted by the Cortland City Police Department upon arrival at the hospital.

After being medically cleared, McCutcheon was processed and turned over to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
