On Friday, Ithaca Police officers arrested Marcus Collins, 30, of Ithaca, following an investigation into an assault on the Ithaca Commons.
Police responded to the area at approximately 2:35 p.m. following a report of an assault near Center Ithaca. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been physically assaulted. The victim, who was reportedly unconscious at one point, was transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment.
An investigation determined that the victim had allegedly been involved in a verbal dispute before the incident. Officers located Collins near the scene and charged him with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony.
Collins was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.
