Two women were arrested following a traffic stop in the Village of Bath that led to the discovery of suspected controlled substances, according to Bath Police.

Police said an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Colonial Lawns on June 13.

During the stop, the officer suspected the driver, Nicole Jacquier, was under the influence of drugs and conducted standardized field sobriety tests. Following the investigation, Jacquier was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police said further investigation led officers to believe additional criminal activity may have been taking place. A K-9 unit from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and conducted a sniff of the vehicle.

Following a search of the vehicle, authorities reported locating controlled substances. A passenger, Judith Rosekrans, was also taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
