A Bath man is facing charges after police say he became involved in a physical altercation outside the Old National Hotel while a young child was present.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Old National Hotel on Wednesday afternoon following reports of a fight outside the building.

Investigators determined that two adult men became involved in a physical dispute over a property-related issue. Police said the altercation occurred in the presence of a young child, and officers concluded those involved showed disregard for the child’s safety.

Authorities said all parties involved are homeless individuals currently staying at the Old National Hotel through a public assistance program and had previously reported issues with one another at an earlier placement location.

Following an investigation, police arrested 25-year-old Mandell Davis and identified him as the aggressor in the incident.

Davis was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct, a violation.

He was processed and arraigned in Bath Village Court before being released on appearance tickets.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
