A Village of Clyde man was arrested early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle collision in the Town of Savannah.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 21-year-old Gracin Hilliard. It is alleged that Hilliard was operating his motor vehicle while impaired by drugs when he crashed into and knocked down a telephone pole on West Church Street. Hilliard was not injured in the collision but subsequently failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests administered at the scene.

Hilliard was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert. He has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated Common Law, Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Moving From Lane Unsafely, alongside other vehicle and traffic violations.

Hilliard was released on Uniform Traffic Tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Savannah Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
