A Cato resident is facing multiple felony charges following a recent investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, Homer Rice was taken into custody by deputies on a series of financial and benefit fraud charges. The 40-year-old was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, and Misuse of Food Stamps in an amount over $1,000.
Authorities allege that Rice unlawfully took property valued at over $1,000 and improperly obtained and misused public assistance food benefit funds.
