A Brutus man is facing a felony charge following an alleged domestic incident in the Village of Weedsport.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Joshua Locust was arrested on a warrant charging him with third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony.

According to deputies, they responded around 12:09 p.m. June 25 to the area of Oakland Road and Earl Street for a reported domestic violence incident involving a vehicle. Investigators say Locust fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The investigation determined Locust was arguing with a woman inside her car when he allegedly kicked the dashboard and windshield, causing damage to both.

Deputies were unable to locate Locust after the incident, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Authorities say he turned himself in during the early morning hours of June 26.

Locust was arraigned in Cayuga County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and released on his own recognizance.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
