A Williamson man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through several Wayne County towns early Tuesday morning.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Christopher Haas shortly before 3 a.m. The traffic stop escalated into a pursuit that involved both sheriff’s deputies and the New York State Police.

Investigators said the chase traveled through the towns of Sodus, Williamson, Arcadia, and Marion before Haas was taken into custody at approximately 2:57 a.m. near the intersection of Route 104 and Redman Road in Sodus.

Following the pursuit, Haas was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and two counts of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

In addition to the criminal charges, Haas was issued several traffic citations, including speeding, reckless driving, moving from a lane unsafely, and making an improper turn.

Haas was transported to the Wayne County Jail pending arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Part court. He is scheduled to appear in the town courts of Sodus, Williamson, Arcadia, and Marion at later dates.

The charges are accusations, and Haas is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
