The Victor Town Board says it remains committed to keeping the town’s transfer station open despite upcoming changes to waste management in Ontario County.

Town officials issued the update after receiving questions from residents about rumors that the facility could close.

The Ontario County Landfill is scheduled to close in 2028, requiring communities across the region to find other options for handling their waste. Victor officials said the town intends to continue operating its transfer station following the landfill’s closure.

Future operating costs will depend partly on the rates charged by regional landfills and recycling facilities. The town said it is monitoring those costs and looking for the most affordable options for residents.

Officials said additional updates will be provided as plans develop
