The Middlesex Hose Company has expanded its emergency response capabilities with the addition of a new brush and mini-pumper truck.
The department recently introduced M-54, a vehicle built on a 2010 Chevrolet chassis with a custom aluminum body. Officials said the truck is designed to improve responses to brush and wildland fires while also serving as a mini-pumper in areas that may be difficult for larger fire apparatus to reach.
M-54 is equipped with a Hale HPX 200 pump, 200 feet of 1¾-inch attack hose, and 1,500 feet of 1-inch forestry hose, allowing firefighters to respond effectively to a variety of incidents.
Fire officials said the truck will be used not only for brush fires but also to supply water in hard-to-access locations and assist with other emergency responses throughout the Middlesex area and neighboring communities.
The department thanked everyone who helped make the addition possible and said M-54 will provide firefighters with another important tool to help protect the community.
