Primary Election Day Across the Finger Lakes

Voters across the Finger Lakes and New York State will head to the polls Tuesday for Primary Election Day.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. for registered voters eligible to participate in party primary contests. Election officials are reminding voters that New York’s closed primary system means only registered members of a political party can vote in that party’s primary election.

Several local races are on the ballot across the region, including contests for county, town, city, and village offices where primaries have been scheduled. Voters are encouraged to review their sample ballots and confirm their polling locations before heading to the polls.

County Boards of Elections throughout the Finger Lakes report that early voting concluded Sunday, with Election Day voting now set to determine party nominees who will advance to the November general election.

Voters who are unsure of their polling place can contact their county Board of Elections or use the New York State Board of Elections voter lookup tool online.

Unofficial results are expected to begin becoming available shortly after polls close Tuesday night, though absentee, affidavit, and eligible mail ballots may delay the certification of final results in some races.

Finger Lakes News Radio and FingerLakesDailyNews.com will provide election results and updates as they become available throughout the evening.
