A Delaware man was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Yates County earlier this month after losing control of his vehicle during rainy weather.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were dispatched at approximately 4:35 p.m. on June 11 to the intersection of State Route 14A and State Route 230 in the Town of Barrington for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries.
Investigators determined that 54-year-old Garnette Erskin of Newark, Delaware, was traveling eastbound on Route 14A when he failed to negotiate a turn in rainy conditions. Authorities said the vehicle entered a ditch on the south side of the roadway, re-entered the road, crossed Route 230, and then went back into the ditch.
Erskin sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Corning Hospital for treatment of a head injury.
Following the investigation, Erskin was cited for speed not reasonable and prudent and moving from a lane unsafely.
The Dundee Fire Department, Dundee Ambulance, and Yates County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
