A 76-year-old Waterloo woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle last week in the Town of Waterloo.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the area of 649 Routes 5 and 20 at approximately 10:20 a.m. July 16.
Investigators determined Adelaide Ward was attempting to cross the highway when she entered the path of a westbound vehicle driven by 23-year-old Shubhya Muktapuran of Geneva. Witnesses told deputies they saw Ward walk into the roadway shortly before the collision.
Ward was treated at the scene by Border City Fire Department and North Seneca Ambulance personnel for injuries described as non-life-threatening. She was then taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
Routes 5 and 20 were temporarily closed while the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division investigated the crash.
