The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 3,200 incidents during June, highlighting the wide range of public safety services provided by deputies, corrections officers, dispatchers and civilian staff throughout the county.
According to the Sheriff’s Office’s monthly activity report, deputies handled 3,213 total events during the month, including 710 traffic stops, 118 arrests and seven driving while intoxicated arrests. The K-9 Unit was deployed 54 times, while deputies also responded to 116 calls at Eastview Mall and processed 16 pistol permit applications.
The Sheriff’s Office Communications Bureau answered 15,554 police calls during June, along with 1,579 EMS calls and 634 fire calls.
At the Ontario County Jail, the median daily inmate population was 94. The jail recorded 93 male admissions and 17 female admissions during the month. Staff handled 675 medical encounters, conducted 48 arraignments and processed 27 release-on-recognizance cases.
The Sheriff’s Office also reported investigating 309 motor vehicle crashes during June, including 165 property damage crashes, 59 personal injury crashes and 85 crashes involving deer. No fatal crashes were reported during the month.
In a social media post accompanying the report, the Sheriff’s Office said much of its work takes place behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed.
“Behind every call, arrest, medical encounter, crash investigation and community event are dedicated professionals serving Ontario County 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the Sheriff’s Office said while thanking its deputies, corrections officers, dispatchers, civilian staff and volunteers for their service.
