A Cayuga County woman will spend the next decade in prison after admitting to stabbing two people during a violent incident in Auburn last year.
Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that 40-year-old Kelly Vroman of Auburn was sentenced Friday in Cayuga County Court to a total of 10 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
Vroman previously pleaded guilty on April 16 to one count of attempted first-degree assault, a Class C violent felony, and one count of second-degree assault, a Class D violent felony.
The charges stem from a May 20, 2025, incident in the City of Auburn.
During her guilty plea, Vroman admitted she attempted to seriously injure one victim by stabbing her in the abdomen with a knife and intentionally injured a second victim by stabbing that person as well.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Auburn Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided aid to both victims. One victim remained hospitalized for several days but did not suffer permanent internal injuries. The second victim was treated and released from the hospital the following day.
Police later found Vroman hiding in the attic of her residence approximately two hours after the stabbings.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Venditte and Special Counsel to the District Attorney Mark Moore.
