An Auburn woman has pleaded guilty to felony assault charges stemming from a 2025 stabbing incident that left two people injured.
40-year-old Kelly Vroman entered guilty pleas Thursday in Cayuga County Court before Judge Thomas G. Leone. According to Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci, Vroman pleaded guilty to one count of attempted assault in the first degree, a Class C violent felony, and one count of assault in the second degree, a Class D violent felony, in connection with a May 20, 2025, incident in the City of Auburn.
According to prosecutors, Vroman admitted that she attempted to cause serious physical injury to one victim by stabbing her in the abdomen with a knife. She also admitted to intentionally injuring a second victim during the same incident.
Police and emergency responders from the Auburn Police Department and local EMS agencies provided aid at the scene. Authorities said the first victim was hospitalized for several days but did not suffer permanent internal injuries, while the second victim was treated and released the following day.
Investigators later located Vroman hiding in the attic of her residence approximately two hours after the stabbings.
Vroman faces a maximum aggregate sentence of up to 22 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Sentencing is scheduled for July 10.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Venditte and Special Counsel Mark Moody.
