The Keuka College Department of Athletics has named alumnus Daniel Steve as the new head baseball coach for the Wolves.
Steve, a 2021 Keuka graduate, takes over the program after serving the past two seasons as the team’s pitching coach under Matt Michalski, who resigned this summer to pursue opportunities outside of coaching.
“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead this team,” Steve said. “Keuka College has had a tremendous impact on my life, both as a student-athlete and as a coach, and it is a privilege to give back to a place that means so much to me.”
Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jon Accardi said Steve’s familiarity with the college and commitment to student-athletes made him the right choice to lead the program.
A standout pitcher during his playing career, Steve helped Keuka set the program’s all-time wins record in 2019. He earned First Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference honors that season after setting the school’s single-season earned run average record with a 2.75 ERA. He also finished his career ranked among the program’s leaders in ERA and strikeouts while earning conference scholar-athlete honors.
After graduating, Steve played professionally in the PECOS Professional Baseball League, earning all-star recognition in 2021.
He began his coaching career that fall as an assistant at Tompkins Cortland Community College, where he spent three seasons. During the same period, he also served as head coach of the Newark Pilots in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League before returning to Keuka as pitching coach ahead of the 2025 season.
Steve said he looks forward to building on the program’s foundation while developing student-athletes on and off the field.
“We will remain committed to developing successful student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom, while creating a culture built on hard work, accountability, and growth,” he said.
