The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office welcomed five new deputies during a badge pinning ceremony held at the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputies Tyler Younglove, Zack Whitcomb, James Petersen, Kevin Keehn and Delilah Moore received their badges in a ceremony marking the completion of the academic portion of their law enforcement training and the beginning of the next phase of their careers.

The badge pinning ceremony is a longstanding tradition in law enforcement, recognizing the hard work, dedication and perseverance required to complete academy training.

The five deputies will now begin field training, where they will work alongside experienced Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies to gain hands-on experience responding to calls, conducting investigations, enforcing traffic laws and serving the public.

In announcing the milestone, the Sheriff’s Office congratulated the new deputies and wished them safe, successful and rewarding careers in law enforcement.
