More than 100 girls from 11 school districts came together for a day focused on empowerment, connection, and personal growth as part of the recent EmpowerME event hosted by Wayne County Community Schools.
Organizers say the event brought together more than 50 adult volunteers and over 20 partner agencies, all working toward a shared goal: ensuring every participant felt supported and valued.
Officials described EmpowerME as more than just a series of activities, emphasizing the importance of building confidence, fostering connections, and creating meaningful experiences for young people. The event included opportunities for participants to engage with mentors, develop new skills, and connect with peers from across the region.
βThis is about making sure every girl feels seen and supported,β organizers noted, adding that the impact of the event extends beyond a single day.

Planning for the event involved significant behind-the-scenes coordination, with organizers highlighting the contributions of planners, presenters, sponsors, and community advocates who helped bring the program to life.
The STEADY Work Cookery also provided food for attendees throughout the day.
Organizers say feedback from participants underscored the importance of the initiative, with some attendees expressing how meaningful the experience was to them.
EmpowerME is part of a broader effort by Wayne County Community Schools and its partners to support youth development and strengthen connections across the community.
