Watching an interesting split across the region right now — Geneva sitting dry at 81°F under mainly clear skies while Ithaca, Watkins Glen, and Auburn are picking up light drizzle at nearly the same temperature. That’s the signature of an upper-level trough deepening overhead, wringing out just enough moisture to produce scattered light showers inland, particularly where lake breezes aren’t keeping things stable.
No alerts are in effect. The afternoon finishes near current highs — low 80s across most of the region — with any remaining shower activity tapering after sunset. Overnight lows settle into the mid-60s.
The bigger story develops Monday into Tuesday, when a more organized round of showers and thunderstorms is expected regionwide. Some of those storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Wednesday and Thursday carry lingering shower chances before drier air arrives Friday. Highs drop to the mid-70s Tuesday through Thursday before recovering near 82° by Friday and the weekend.
