The humidity is doing most of the talking today — Auburn is sitting under dense drizzle at 75° while Geneva holds at the same temperature with just partly cloudy skies, a reminder of how patchy this setup has been all morning. No alerts are in effect.
The NWS in Buffalo points to a weak surface low drifting from the Ohio Valley toward the Mid-Atlantic, pulling an inverted trough north across western Pennsylvania and into our area. That’s keeping scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm in the picture through the afternoon, with cloud cover holding highs to the mid-to-upper 70s regionwide. Coverage expands and drifts northward through the day, so the wetter stretch is likely still ahead of us this afternoon rather than behind.
By evening, the system begins to clear. Tuesday stays on the damp side with a 28% precip chance but looks drier than today, and Wednesday clears out nicely with highs jumping to 85°. Temperatures climb further Thursday into the upper 80s before another weak system nudges through the region Friday into the weekend.
