Weekend Forecast: Showers linger, cooler and drier days ahead

Geneva’s sitting at 78° under moderate drizzle as the sun heads toward its 8:49 PM set — a damp end to an Independence Day that’s been more gray than celebratory across most of the region. The good news for anyone still hoping to catch fireworks tonight: radar shows the heavier activity gradually tapering through the evening, though mist and low clouds will persist. Lows tonight settle near 71° regionwide, so no frost concerns.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the unsettled pattern continues. NWS Buffalo signals occasional showers and a few thunderstorms are possible, particularly across the southern Finger Lakes. Ithaca and Auburn should expect on-and-off drizzle through the afternoon, with highs reaching only 79°. Monday holds more of the same before the pattern briefly steadies by Wednesday, when highs climb back toward 83°. The post-heat-wave humidity continues to ease — small comfort, but a real one.
