The number that has my attention this midday isn’t today’s — it’s next week’s: 96°, the projected high for both Wednesday and Thursday in Geneva as a powerful upper-level ridge builds over the eastern U.S. For now, though, the Finger Lakes are sitting in a very comfortable spot. Temperatures are climbing through the mid-70s regionwide under mainly clear skies, with highs near 80° expected this afternoon and a pleasant evening ahead. Lows tonight dip to around 59° — Buffalo NWS notes ideal radiational cooling conditions.
Sunday is another fine one, with highs near 82° and some morning fog possible before sunshine returns for IMSA race day at The Glen. The Six Hours of the Glen gets underway in favorable conditions, though drivers and fans should plan for fog on Rt. 14 early.
The pattern shifts hard Monday into Tuesday as upper ridging amplifies. Highs reach 93° Tuesday, then 96° Wednesday and Thursday, with humid overnight lows in the mid-70s. Heat headlines from NWS Buffalo are expected. Scattered thunderstorms — with slight hail possible — offer the only breaks through next weekend.
