Patchy Valley Fog Possible Tonight from Corning to Elmira

Late June evening, and the Finger Lakes are delivering exactly what you’d hope for — 73° in Geneva under a clear sky, northwest breeze holding at 7 mph, humidity in the low 50s. It’s about as pleasant as a Tuesday evening gets here.

Tonight will stay dry, but the NWS Buffalo office is flagging one thing worth a heads-up: patchy river valley fog is possible overnight across the Southern Tier. Corning and Elmira sit in terrain that funnels cold, calm air after sunset, and with clear skies accelerating radiational cooling, a brief fog event in those valleys is plausible between midnight and early morning. No alerts are in effect, but Southern Tier commuters heading out before 7 AM Wednesday should keep that in mind.

Lows region-wide will settle in the upper 50s — Geneva near 57°, Bath touching 55°, Ithaca around 59°. No frost concern tonight.

Wednesday looks outstanding: high pressure parked over the region delivers sunshine and highs climbing to the mid-to-upper 70s — Canandaigua near 76°, Watkins Glen potentially touching 78°. Thursday is where the mood shifts; moisture and showers return, with precipitation chances jumping to around 80% by Thursday night into Friday. The weekend trend points warmer — upper 70s to low 80s Saturday, near 85° Sunday — but with a few lingering shower chances early in the period.
