Rain Exits Tonight, Fog and Drizzle Linger into Tuesday Morning

The last of today’s rain is winding down — Geneva sitting at 61 degrees and overcast just after 11 PM, with the heavier stuff long gone and only patchy drizzle holding on across the southern valleys. A surface low that parked over Pennsylvania through the evening is sliding toward southern New England, and that shift is pulling the moisture train with it. What’s left overnight is low clouds, some patchy fog, and light drizzle — most persistent south of the Thruway, where upslope northerly flow keeps the air saturated longest. Watkins Glen and Corning should expect that drizzle to linger into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday clears from northwest to southeast as high pressure builds in from the Great Lakes — Auburn and Canandaigua likely see sunshine first, with the southern tier catching up by midday. Highs Tuesday reach the low 70s, and Wednesday adds another degree or two with partly cloudy skies.

The IMSA weekend at The Glen is worth watching: Thursday brings drizzle back with an 84 percent chance of precipitation, Friday carries a 43 percent chance through qualifying day, and Saturday’s support races look partly cloudy with just 17 percent. Race day Sunday — the Sahlen’s Six Hours — is shaping up as the best day of the stretch, mainly clear and topping near 82.
