On the day of her arrest, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department detained Shelly Baran, 38, of Seneca Falls, following a routine traffic stop.

During the stop, police discovered Baran was allegedly in possession of an illegal controlled substance. As a result, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and issued an accompanying traffic citation.

Baran was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in Seneca Falls Town Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
