A Canandaigua woman was charged with harassment after a welfare check early Saturday morning on State Route 332.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old Cynthia Karekos was arrested around 12:56 a.m. June 6 and charged with second-degree harassment.

Deputies said the charge stemmed from a welfare check during which Karekos was found walking on State Route 332 while allegedly highly intoxicated. During the incident, authorities said Karekos spit on a member of the sheriff’s office.

Karekos was issued an appearance ticket and released. She is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
