On Monday, a Sayre, Pennsylvania man was arrested by Penn Yan Police following a welfare check investigation. James Frantz, 35, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree.
According to police, officers observed Frantz driving a vehicle and returning to the scene during an ongoing investigation. Upon making contact, officers allegedly observed Frantz sweating profusely and showing signs of drug intoxication. Frantz was subjected to standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was subsequently taken into custody.
Frantz was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, where he voluntarily submitted to a blood draw. A Department of Motor Vehicles check revealed his New York State operating privileges were suspended for failing to pay a driver responsibility assessment.
Frantz was issued traffic tickets to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date. Authorities stated that additional charges are pending the results of the blood test.
