On Tuesday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Auburn man following a pursuit that spanned multiple counties.
Darren Vatter, 26, was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
Deputies allegedly observed Vatter committing a traffic violation on State Route 14 in the Town of Lyons and attempted to pull him over. Vatter allegedly fled from marked patrol units, continuing southbound on Route 14 into Ontario County and then eastbound onto Route 318 into Seneca County, where he was taken into custody near the Route 89 intersection. He was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing, where deputies determined he was operating under the influence.
Vatter was released on an appearance ticket along with multiple traffic tickets, with a court appearance scheduled in Lyons Town Court.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Seneca Falls Police Department.
