On Wednesday, an Auburn man was arrested following a July 9 incident that left a police officer injured.
Aaron Hendershot was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail after being processed on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
According to authorities, an officer on patrol investigated a report of fireworks on Logan Street on July 9 and encountered Hendershot. During the encounter, the officer discovered Hendershot had an active arrest warrant issued out of Auburn City Court for failing to appear in court regarding original charges of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
When the officer informed Hendershot he was under arrest, Hendershot allegedly pulled away and fled to a front porch on Logan Street. During a struggle while resisting arrest, Hendershot allegedly caused a knee injury to the officer, who required several days off work as a result. Additional officers responded to the scene and assisted in taking Hendershot into custody.
Following his processing on Wednesday, Hendershot was sent to the Cayuga County Jail without bail due to being on parole and facing a felony charge.
