Penn Yan Man Charged With Felonies After Fight On Wagener Street

Penn Yan Police arrested a Penn Yan resident following an investigation into a fight involving multiple individuals.

Christopher Cooke, 40, of Penn Yan, was taken into custody on Wednesday evening after officers responded to a complaint of a physical altercation on Wagener Street. According to police, during an argument involving several people, Cooke allegedly displayed a pocket knife and threatened them.

Cooke was charged with Menacing in the First Degree, a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony.

He was held at the Yates County Jail to await central arraignment on Thursday morning, where he was subsequently arraigned and released with orders of protection issued for the victims.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
