The Village of Bath Police Department arrested a Cameron man following a traffic stop that escalated into a physical confrontation.

On Saturday, an officer observed a vehicle violating multiple sections of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law on West Morris Street. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the driver, Cody Blanchard, allegedly refused to identify himself and refused to follow lawful commands to exit the vehicle.

Authorities state that once the officer advised Blanchard he was going to be detained, Blanchard began fighting with the officer and rolled the officer’s arm up inside the vehicle window. This action resulted in a taser deployment. Additional officers arrived at the scene, and Blanchard was successfully taken into custody.

Blanchard was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, and other vehicle and traffic violations.

He was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Bath Village Court at a later date.
