The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Canandaigua women following a larceny investigation at the Lowe’s store in Canandaigua.

On Friday, deputies arrested 35-year-old Brooke Simpson and 30-year-old Courtney Simpson. Brooke Simpson was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, while Courtney Simpson was charged with Petit Larceny.

According to authorities, store staff reported that on July 7, Brooke Simpson entered the garden entrance of the store, selected a lawn mower, trimmer line, and a hanging flower pot valued at $1,147.46, and left without paying. Following an investigation, deputies located Brooke Simpson with her sister, Courtney Simpson, at a residence on County Road 4. While taking Brooke Simpson into custody, deputies determined that Courtney Simpson had allegedly stolen weed eater string from the same store, resulting in her arrest.

Both women were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
