The Village of Bath Police Department arrested a local resident following an incident in a convenience store parking lot on Liberty Street.

On Saturday, an officer observed a male urinating in the parking lot next to the One Stop convenience store. During the investigation and the subsequent issuance of an appearance ticket, the man allegedly grew irate and attempted to leave the scene. Authorities state that when the officer attempted to detain him, the man threatened to strike the officer and made a fist with his hand.

The man, identified as 64-year-old Daniel Rumsey of Bath, was taken into custody after a brief struggle and transported to the Bath Police Department for processing. Rumsey was charged with Menacing in the Third Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and Disorderly Conduct.

Rumsey was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Bath Village Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
