On Wednesday, deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the New York State Police, arrested Jason McCraw, 43, of Aurelius. The arrest was made on an outstanding warrant issued out of Auburn City Court for failing to appear in court regarding the original charges.

McCraw is accused of Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Misuse of Food Stamps, all of which are class E felonies. Following his arrest, McCraw was processed and arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court in the Cayuga County Jail. He was subsequently remanded to the custody of the Sheriff’s Office.

The case was investigated through a joint effort by the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
