Auburn Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Auburn woman on a felony arrest warrant following a joint fraud investigation.

Audrey Oattes, 36, was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, and felony Misuse of Food Stamps.

The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

Oattes was processed and arraigned at Auburn City Court, where she was released on her own recognizance.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
